Maine Sea Duck Hunting

Experience world class sea duck hunting in the state of Maine. American Eider, Longtail (formerly Old Squaw), and three species of Scoter ducks (Surf, White-Winged and American) abound and provide excellent sea duck shooting opportunities from off-shore islands, ledges and from the boat.

Sea duck hunters can enjoy Maine’s generous seven bird daily bag limit per hunter. The use or possession of ammunition loaded with other than nontoxic shot while hunting ducks is prohibited. Steel, Bismuth-tin, Tungsten-iron, Tungsten-matrix and Tungsten nickel-iron (HEVI) shot have been approved nontoxic by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Maine’s hunting laws and rules can be found on the Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife website.

Federal Duck Stamp, Maine Migratory Waterfowl fee and a Maine Small Game hunting license are required for sea duck hunting in Maine. Maine licenses can be purchased online at the Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife website. Federal Duck Stamps can be purchased online through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service website.
